We believe in God

We believe in one God, in three persons of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

Romans 1: 20: For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and the sky. Through everything God made they can clearly see his invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

We believe that originally man was created for relationship with God, but through man’s disobedience that relationship was broken as was revealed in Genesis chapter 3 and that the only way back to a relationship with God is through belief in the facts of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

John 14: 6: I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

We believe everyone has a God-shaped hole in their lives which they try to fill with all manner of things, but only the Lord can satisfy our deepest needs.

John 6: 35: Jesus said, ‘I am the bread of life’.

We believe in the Bible

We believe the bible is a wellspring for life. God’s word is revelation. We believe that the bible is alive and can positively transform lives today.

Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

We believe in people

We believe in people and that God’s love is for all people, we are all His children. Just as Jesus was the good shepherd, we believe we are called to care for His sheep. We believe it is a blessing to be a child of God and that we are all called to share our love for God with others. We love because he first loved us!

John 10: 11: I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.

Christians are family and we welcome new members into our family with open arms.

John 13: 35: By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

We believe that God has a plan and purpose for every believer’s life.

Jeremiah 29: 11-12: ‘For I know the plans I have for you’, declares the Lord,  ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

We believe in the church

We believe in one church which is the body of Christ on this earth, made up from people of all different age-groups, backgrounds and cultures.

Ephesians 4: 2-6: Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

We strive to build relationship with all believers and especially those in other local fellowships. As our name suggests, our hope is for a ‘United Kingdom’.

John 17:20-21: My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

We believe in the Kingdom

We believe in the Kingdom which is God’s rule on earth. Kingdoms have a king, our king is King Jesus.

Revelation 19: 16: On his robe and thigh was written this title: King of all king and Lord of all Lords.

The church is a divinely constituted organism and is destined to grow through the proclamation of the good news.

Matthew 28: 18-20: Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

We strive to further God’s kingdom in obedience to the great commission outlined in the scripture above.

In Matthew 6: 9 we are taught to pray ‘your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven’.

He is a King who rules with righteousness and justice.

We believe in the power of prayer

We believe in the power of prayer and we believe that God heals today.

We want to see people come to know the Lord and we believe we will see miracles on the streets of Saxmundham, the fulfilment of a dream which Mandy had where she and Paul prayed for people and, with just a light touch, people walked away well.

John 14: 12-14: I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring back glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name and I will do it.

We believe in the Holy Spirit

John 3: 5: I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

Romans 8:9: You however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are empowering and still relevant today. We believe that miracles are not supernatural, but natural.

We believe the gifts of the Spirit are given to each of us so that we can build up one another and are an expression of God’s power to the world.

1 Corinthians 12: 7: Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
